Gordon E Kniss Sr, 83, of South Boardman, died Fri, Feb 23, 200, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
A lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, Mr. Kniss was employed by Wayne Wire Cloth Products prior to his retirement. He later worked at Northern True Value Hardware. He was a member of the East Boardman United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed trout fishing.
He was born in Kalkaska County on Dec 16, 1917, the son of George and Eva Benedict Kniss. On Aug 27, 1938, in South Boardman, he was united in marriage with Mildred Ely, who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by sons Gordon (Pat) Kniss of Grand Marais and Gregg and Gary (Diane) Kniss, both of South Boardman; brothers, Boyd and Dale Kniss, both of Kalkaska, Wayne Kniss of Gainesville, TX, and Daryl Kniss of Traverse City; 24 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Daughter, Sondra Beaver preceded him in death.
Funeral services were Feb 26, at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Rev Howard Seaver officiated. Burial was in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
