Gordon B. Babcock, Sr., 81, of Kalkaska, passed away peacefully at the KMHC – Eden Center on Saturday, May 4, 2019. He was born on June 22, 1937 in Johnstown Twp., Barry County to the late Ray and Luella (Talmadge) Babcock.
Gordon worked at Penn Central Railroad for many years, later in the oil fields for as a truck driver and farming. He also spent time in the Sheriff’s Reserve. Gordon enjoyed working on old cars, going South in the winter and mushroom hunting. Gordon was a great mechanic, buying, repairing and reselling lawn tractors.
Surviving Gordon are his children, Gordon D. Babcock, Jr., Rory T. (Darla) Babcock, Ira L. (Barbara) Babcock all of Kalkaska; and Taressa Babcock, Grawn; 20 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; siblings, Howard (Wilda) Babcock, Rockford, Evelyn Blaisdell, Kalkaska, and Donna (Rolland) Sayer, Traverse City.
Proceeding Gordon in death is his wife, Phyliss; his siblings, Walter, Richard, Mildred, Leah, Hugh, Betty, Marge.
There will be a graveside service at Boardman Twp. Cemetery on June 8th at 11:00 am.
