Mrs. Goldie L (Lund) Gates, 88, of Kalkaska, died Mar 17, 1998 at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care Unit.
Mrs. gates had been a lifelong resident of the Kalkaska area, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cards.
She was born in Kalkaska County on Feb 24, 1910, daughter of Glen and Belle Conkey Smith. She married August Lund in South Boardman on Sep 12, 1928. he died Sep 9, 1961. On Nov 11, 1972, in Traverse City, she married Latimer Gates, who preceded her in death on Jan 11, 1979.
Surviving are sons Victor Lund of Midland, Dale and Roland Lund, both of Kalkaska, and DeRay Lund of Midland; daughters Lucille Miller of Traverse City, Elaine Kittle of Midland and Clara Porter and Leona Boyden, both of Kalkaska; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Son Arnold, two brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Friday at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Michael Steer officiated. Burial was in Garfield Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
