Glenna Mae Sturgeon, 79. of Kalkaska and formerly of Battle Creek died Thursday, Aug. 21. 2003 at her home.
She was born May 3, 1925, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Glenn and Jessie (Brown) Sloan.
Glenna was previously employed by. Alexander's Pharmacy, retiring in 1983 when she moved to Kalkaska. She was a member of the Bear Lake Christian Church and the church's women's group. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, canning, baking, being "up north" and feeding the animals around her house.
She married Lester Sturgeon on Dec. 18, 1960. He preceded her in death in 1994.
She is survived by her daughters Marjorie Kelly of Kalkaska, Donna Cretsinger of Hawaii, and Marcia Rice of Hastings. She is also survived by four granddaughters, three grandsons, several great-grandchildren and her sister, Velma Knight, of St. Clair Shores. She also leaves her step-children Gloria Morris and Charles Sturgeon, both of Coldwater, and her half-brother, Harold Sloan, and half- sister, Eleanor Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Rice. in April 2002; sisters, Naomi Copeland and Marion Mony; and brother, Lawrence Sloan.
Visitation was from 5-9 p.m. Monday at the Royal Funeral Rome in Battle Creek. Funeral services were held at I p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at the Royal Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
