Glenn F. King, 80, of Traverse City, formerly of Kalkaska, died Fri, Jan 16, 1998, at his home with his family, after a long illness.
Glenn was employed by the Kalkaska County Road Commission for 22 years before his retirement in 1979. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a life member of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684.
Glenn was born in Kalkaska County Sep 25, 1917, the son of Adam E. and Fanny (Coxon) King. On Oct 22, 1946 in South Boardman, he was united in marriage to Jane Vipond, who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by son Dennis G. (Colleen) King of Maple City; daughters Sandra J Goodrich of Denver, CO and Marcia K Ryckman of Traverse City; granddaughter Jennifer K Ryckman of West Branch; grandsons Todd E and Casey G Goodrich of Denver, also Andrew J and Steven H King of Maple City; sisters Ethel (Marshall) McKee of Kalkaska, and Nela (Leslie) McCool of Kalkaska; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Elmer King.
Funeral services were held Jan 20 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Pastor David McCool officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska. Military graveside services were conducted under the auspices of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684.
