Gilbert Charles Perrin, 80, of South Boardman, formerly of Grandville, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Grandville on Oct. 26, 2003. after a courageous battle with asbestosis.
He was born on May 29, 1923, in Garfield Township, the son of Benjamin and Katie (Lund) Perrin.
Gilbert graduated from Kalkaska High School. He was a veteran serving our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He married Alice M. Hager on Dec. 29, 1949, in South Boardman. Gilbert was a carpenter by trade and retired in 1995. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the "great outdoors," the activities at the Kalkaska Senior Center and just being with family. An avid baseball fan, Gilbert enjoyed watching the World Series this fall.
Gilbert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice; children, Sherry (Robert) Sheldon of Grandville and Jeffrey (Mary Frey) Perrin of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Todd (Melinda) Sheldon, Amy Sheldon, Katie, Paul and Emily Perrin; very dear friend, Waunettea DeRosha of Manton; brothers, Warren Perrin and Devere (Louise) Perrin, both of Fife Lake; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and faithful little dog, Gracie.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald F. Perrin.
Visitation was Oct. 28 at Wolfe Funeral Home. The funeral service is Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Kimberland Hough officiat- ing. Interment will be at Garfield Township Cemetery.
