Gertrude Lucile (Forsyth) Foley passed away from our world into God’s Kingdom early Sunday morning, June 6, 2010 at her residence at the age of 89.
Gertrude Lucile Forsyth was the daughter of Henry O. and Minnie (Mamerow) Forsyth and was born on August 4, 1920. Gertrude had been a lifelong Millington resident, growing up in Millington and graduating from Millington High School. On March 31, 1940 Gertrude married her husband of 63 years, John Dennis Foley. John preceded her in death in July 2003.
Gertrude loved to sew, do needlepoint and work in her flower gardens. In addition to raising nine children, she worked hard alongside of her husband John in the daily operation of Foley’s Dairy Farm. Gertrude’s real joy was family, raising the children, helping with grandchildren and just spending time with family.
Gertrude leaves to cherish her memory, children, John Foley, Sharon and John Stephens, Shirley and Wayne Graham, Sondra Foley, Nancy and Russ Bullen, Joel and Ronnie Foley, Michael Foley, Vernon Foley and Steve and Diane Foley; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Albertine and Alfred Burns and Elinor and Charles Kroll; a brother, Jim Forsyth; sister-in-law, Ethel Foley; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Besides her husband, Gertrude was also preceded in death by three brothers, Norman, Henry, and Burton Forsyth, and three sisters, Helen Forsyth, Carolyn Pletcher and Wilma Jean Forsyth.
Friends may call at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington where the Foley family will receive friends from 2-8pm on Thursday an dalso Friday from 11 am until just prior to services beginning. Funeral service will be held Fri, Jun 11, at 1pm at Hanlin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Millington Twp. Cemetery. Pastor Pete Crawford will deliver the funeral message and the committal prayers at the cemetery.
