Gerald Lloyd Mack, Sr. “Jake”, 73, a lifelong resident of Lapeer, passed away in the comforts of his home with his family at his side.
He was born on Mar 19, 1949, to Harold and Madeline Mack in Brown City. Gerald graduated from Lapeer High School in 1967 and just a year later he married the love of his life, Linda Secord. Shortly after their marriage, Gerald was proudly enlisted into the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany until 1971. He worked for Lapeer County Road Commission with his father, and until his recent retirement in 2019, he drove semi-trucks in various forms. Gerald had a deep appreciation for muscle cars (especially Chevrolet) and most days you could find him in the garage, tinkering with his Harley or woodwork, in his cowboy boots and hat. John Wayne was a personal idol of his and it is very apparent when visiting the Mack household. Above all else his favorite things were; spending time with his family, being captain of road trips, and riding Harley’s with his son, friends, and family. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors – Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold Mack and Madeline Mack; and his brother, Larry Harold Mack. He is survived by his wife: Linda Secord; his children, Kimberly Pringle (Jeremy) of Almont, and Gerald Mack Jr (Sonya) of Imlay City; his grandchildren, Zachary Mack Hoban of Imlay City, Amber ‘Smiley’ Bradley (Logan) of Brown City and Chelsee ‘Half Pint Mack’ of Imlay City; his great grandchildren, Tristain, Isabella, Isaac, and Rayne; his sister JoAnn Vanderlip; and his pet Tito.
