Gerald (Jerry) Howard Sheahen of Livonia, MI, passed away on Sep 22, 2012.
Jerry was the beloved husband of Loraine Anne (Mensching) Sheahen for 61 years; adoring brother of Marilyn Gutman; loving father of sons, Kevin Donn (Lynn) of Pittsburgh, PA, Patrick Brian of Phoenix, AZ, Timothy Howard (Juli) of Gaylord, and Gerald Howard Jr. of Kalkaska; dear grandfather of Melissa Lux (Matt), Maureen Schwegman (Doug), William Sheahen, Emily Sheahen, Sr. Airman Matthew Wyant, Elizabeth Eyrolles (2nd Lt. Dan), Katrina Wyant, Brandon Reed, Carsen Sheahen, Gabriel Sheahen, and Kurt Sheahen; great grandfather of Michael, Kylie, Carter, Derek, and son to be born, Noella.
Jery was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gerald; father, Howard Patrick Sheahen; and mother Madelynn (Bock).
Jerry was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran, served in the 93rd Air Depot Group as a part of the Eleventh Air Force and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Jerry was born on December 19, 1927, in Highland Park, Ill. and graduated from Highland Park High School on Jun 1, 1945. Jerry earned his bachelor's degree in accounting at Lake Forest College, while working for the US Post Office.
He worked at Fansteel Matallurgical Corp. as an accountant. He was a partner with Mathilda Mensching at the Loraine Anne Shop in Arlington Heights, IL. Jerry was the Controller and Chief Financial Officer for the Wilding Division of Bell & Howell. Jerry retired as the controller and financial manager for Creative Universal in Southfield.
Jerry always kept a number of clients whom he would do their taxes every year. Jerry volunteered as the accountant for his local church the Manistee Lake Association and the Groves Walker Post 346 American Legion in Farmington. Jerry also volunteered as a little league baseball coach for all five of his sons.
Jerry loved to fish, follow football and baseball, as well as cook omelets. Jerry raised Brittany Spaniels throughout his life, and spent time with his family and his wife Loraine. He was a member Christ Our Savior in Livonia.
Funeral services were held Tue, Sep 25, at 10am at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, located at 23720 Farmington Rd. in Farmington. Visitation took place Mon, Sep 24 from 3 to 8pm. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
