Gerald A. "Duke" Hill, 52, of Rapid City, died Fri, Nov 26, 1999, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Duke was born in Kalkaska County on Jun 27, 1947, son of the late Raymond and Grace Leona (Atkinson) Hill. On Dec 23, 1973, in Kalkaska County he married Shirley Green.
A lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and the outdoors. At the time of his death, he was employed by Wayne Wire Products. he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of Land O' Lakes VFW Post 8684, St Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, and St. Joseph the Worker Council Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are wife Shirley, son Kenneth, and daughters Melissa and Trichia, all of Rapid City; brothers LeRoy (Harriet) Hill of Kalkaska and John (Pat) Hill of Walker; sisters Joyce (Bob) Patton of Bellaire, Alice Hill of Rapid City, Marie (Lee) Courturier of Sparta, and Elaine (Garth) Griffiths of Newaygo; and several nieces and nephews.
Daughter Kathern and brother Francis preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov 29 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Kalkaska; Fr. Jim Holtz was the celebrant. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska, with military rites under the auspices of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684.
