George P. Clary, 86, of Rapid City and formerly of Elk Rapids, died Sep 5, 1999, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste Marie.
Born May 16, 1913, in Erie, PA, he is the son of Arthur B. and Mary (Valentine) Clary. In 1936, George married Amy Scott, who preceded him in death in 1981. He later married Alice Kimball in 1982, who survives.
George was employed by Johnson Randell Company and F & M Packing Company, both of Traverse City. He later worked for Elk Rapids Packing Company as a plant manager for 44 years and retired in 1979. An avid hunter, George enjoyed spending time at his cabin in the Upper Peninsula. He loved socializing with people and gardening. He was a past member of the Elk Rapids Fire Department.
In addition to his wife, a resident of Rapid City, he is also survived by daughter Marianne Larson of Ludington; sons Tom Clary of Kingsley, Gerald (Nancy) Kimball of Ludington, Dale (Judy) Kimball of Battle Creek, David (Winnie) Kimball of Ludington and Donald Kimball of Oxford, CT; special nephews Richard (Maxine) Clary of Martin; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Raymond, Wes, and Harold; and sister Mary.
Funeral services were Sep 9 at the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Burial was in Yuba Cemetery in Yuba.
