George H Spangler, 78, of 22691 US 20E, who died Friday afternoon in Elkhart General Hospital after being admitted on Thursday, will be at 2 pm Monday at Hartzler-Gutermuth Funeral Home. Rev. Carl Baker will officiate. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Memorial Mausoleum, Rice Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
He was born Oct 2, 1905, in Hartford City. On Dec 27, 1933, he married Hazel Flentz, who survives along with three daughters, Mrs. Farrell (Mary) Willard, Mrs. Arthur (Ruth) Bishop, and Mrs. Kenneth (Judy) King, all of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Grant (Freda) Campbell, Mrs. Ray (Thelma) Reed, and Mrs. Norma Schermerhorn all of Hartford City, and Mrs. Dorothy McFerrin of Muncie. He was a truck driver for B&P Trucking Co of South Bend, retiring in 1972.
