Heaven received another angel; George Albert Bergholtz, 68, went into the arms of his creator on Oct 19, 2008.
George was born Feb 22, 1940 in Highland Park, MI. He attended Madison High School in Madison Heights, MI, and joined the US Army on Sep 16, 1957 and was honorably discharged on Sep 15, 1963.
George is survived by his loving wife, Oneita Dirr Bergholtz; his son Michael (Chris) of Alaska; daughter Kim (Steve); stepson and stepdaughters, Jimmy (April) Liberty, Sue Sandell, and Denise Morgan, all of Michigan. He is also survived by three brothers, and two sisters, Paul (Priscilla) Bergholtz, Elin B (Richard) Tommas, all of Michigan; Barbara (Kurt) Page, of AZ; Robert Bergholtz, of MI and James Bergholtz of New York.
George is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Erika and Alicia Mazure, Alex and Ithaca Bergholtz, Shayne McGuire, Lori Trees, Dave Martin, Kenny Hall, Nick, Blake, and Dana Morgan and Dayne, Macey, Rose, and Nathan Liberty and six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, who will all miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul L and Gulli M Bergholtz; sister Beverly Dials; granddaughter, Elizabeth; stepdaughter Garna Hall, and grandson, Chad McGuire.
A luncheon was held at the Kalkaska VFW hall on Oct 23.
