Gene L. Tanner, 64, of Kalkaska, died Mon, Sep 14, 1992, at Munson Medical Center.
Mr. Tanner had been a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He retired in 1980 following 30 years sailing abroad ships owned by the Hanna Mining Company of Cleveland, OH. He was a member of the Spencer Church of Christ.
Mr. Tanner was born in Kalkaska County on May 8, 1928 to John J. and Bertha McCool Tanner. On Sep 17, 1948, in Cadillac, he was married to Joyce Golden who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, John, Richard, and Douglas Tanner all of Kalkaska; one daughter, Valerie Hansen of Kalkaska; three sisters, Marvel Lantzer, Nellie Hamilton, and Josephine Aldridge all of Kalkaska ; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Milo and Thaddeus Tanner.
Funeral services were held Thu, Sep 17, 1992, at the Spencer Church of Christ. Michael Steere officiated. Burial was in Oliver Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
