Gary Lee Keith, Sr., age 79, formerly of Kalkaska, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at his home in Gaylord. He was born on August 7, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late John M. and Lena M. (Dial) Keith.
Gary married the former Katherine E. Barnett on March 11, 1954 in Birmingham. Together they raised 5 wonderful children. Gary served his country proudly as member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked in management in the retail business. Gary was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Kalkaska.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Katherine; his loving children, Katherine (Tommy) Brady of Dayton, TN, Randy (Stephanie) Keith of Rossville, GA, Brenda (Desmond) Powell of Gaylord, and Gary (Donna) Keith Jr. of Dayton, TN; 10 cherished grandchildren; 19 precious great-grandchildren; and his dear sister, Constance Walrond of Birmingham, AL.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John; his siblings, Colleen, Jack, Clarence, and Coy; his granddaughter, Amy; and his great-grandson, Zach.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. with visitation from 3:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Kalkaska with Pastor Matt Moser officiating. Burial will be in Otsego Lake Township Cemetery when weather permits.
