Garth L Griffiths, 67, of Newaygo, formerly of Wyoming, passed away on Mon, Jul 12, 2010. He was born on Sep 23, 1942 in Kalkaska to the late Adolph and Arlene (Morris-Hamacker) Gyurkovitz.
Garth married the former Sandra Hill on Sep 2, 1961 in Rapid City. Together they raised four wonderful children. Garth retired from GM Diesel Equipment of Wyoming after 20 years of service. He was a member of Local UAW #167 of Wyoming. Through the years, Garth coached boys basketball, baseball, and football, and girls softball resulting in many winning seasons and championships. Garth enjoyed hunting, fishing, and car racing. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Garth is survived by his loving children, Lori (Scott) Sorgenfrei of Ionia, Cindy (Rick) Mienes of IN, Todd (Mellisa) Griffiths of SC, and Randy Griffiths of Grand Rapids; his dear siblings Evelyn (Coral) Vipond of Kalkaska and Clarence "John" (Judy) Griffiths of Kalamazoo; 11 cherished grandchildren; and 10 precious great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his devoted wife of 47 years, Sandra.
A memorial service will be held on Thu, Jul 15, 2010 at 11 am at the Kalkaska Church of Christ with Dan Johnson officiating.
