Garry L Coates, 65, of Fife Lake, died Sun, Nov 22, 1998, at Munson Medical Center.
Mr. Coates had been a resident of Fife Lake since 1959. He was formerly employed by Lane Construction Company, and later worked as service manager at Voice Motor Sales in Kalkaska and Cole Brothers in Traverse City. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Fife lake American Legion Post, the Manton Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and carpentry.
Born in Olivet on Feb 21, 1993, he was the son of Lyle and Effie Griffith Coates. On Jun 1, 1961, in Fife Lake, he married Carol Shannon, who survives.
Also surviving are son Russell of Dallas, T; daughter Sandra (Jeffrey) Wilton of Fife Lake; brother Robert of Brethren; and grandchildren Jordon and Shannon Wilton.
Brother Donald preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Nov 25 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Bruce VanDussen officiated. Burial was in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens in Traverse City.
