Gail A. Aldridge, 61, of Traverse City, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, April 28,2002.
Gail was born November 5,1940, in Detroit, the daughter of Wayne and Madalene (Cummings) Aldridge and had been a Traverse City resident since 1958.
Gail was an L.P.N. and had been employed at the Traverse City State Hospital and later at the Grand Traverse County Medical Care Facility.
She was a very active member of Central United Methodist Church, where she volunteered in the church office, was a Stephen Minister and served on the committee for the Beach Reach Out Reach Program. She serves as the Youth Coordinator for the Grand Traverse District of the United Methodist Church and served as a camp counselor at Lake Louise United Methodist Camp for 30 years. Gail also served in the Grand Traverse District Office of the United Methodist Church and had been a District officer. She enjoyed cooking and baking for all of the kids and also enjoyed needlepoint. She was known for making something special for her friends at the time of their weddings. She also was a lover of cats.
Gail is survived by her mother, Madalene Aldridge, and a sister, Beth LaBonte, both of Fife Lake, as well as many nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. Gail is also survived by her “families” at Central United Methodist Church and Lake Louise United Methodist Church Camp.
Gail was preceded in death by her father Wayne and by her brother Michael.
A memorial service celebrating Gail’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dean Bailey officiating. Visitation will take place at the time of services.
