Mrs. Freda C. Carlson, 88, of Mancelona, died Feb 3, 1998, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Carlson moved to Kalkaska County in 1975, from East Orange, New Jersey. She was a 1932 graduate of North Dakota State University. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Phi Upsilon Omicron, A national Honor Society in Home Economics.
Mrs. Carlson was born in Fargo, ND on Dec 29, 1909, daughter of the late Jorgen and Anna Trane Hertsgaard. She married Arthur Carlson in Chicago on Feb 14, 1942.
Surviving are her husband Dr. Arthur Carlson; son Fred Carlson of Pensacola, FL; daughters Constance Garson of Houston, TX and Auralee Carlson of Missoula, MT; sister Eileen Hertsgaard of Fargo, ND; and six grandchildren.
Sisters, Crystal and Genevieve, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Feb 7 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev Ted Turanski officiated. Burial will be in Coldsprings Township Cemetery in the spring.
