Death claims Caro resident since 1880 at home of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Chambers.
Frank Van Wagoner died Thursday Feb. 18 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Chambers, who had tenderly cared for him in his declining years. He had been a resident of Caro since 1880, except for two years spent in California, and four years in Pontiac. He was a stone mason by trade and always took great pride in his work. Many of the stone dwellings in Caro are products of his skills. He was a Christian, and an earnest church worker until his health failed him.
Mr. Van Wagoner was born Aug. 15, 1854 at Oakwood, Oakland County. He married Elpha Barber in 1874, who died in 1884. To this union were born a daughter Bertha, who died in infancy, Herbert, who died 28 years ago, and Harvey Van Wagoner of Ann Arbor in 1885. To this union were born two daughters, Gertrude, Mrs. Foster Sherman, Ethel, Mrs. Horace Underwood of Seoul, Korea, and a son Ernest, who died in childhood. In 1907 he married Mrs. Sarah Chambers, who died in Jan. 1931. Besides his four children, he is survived by seven stepchildren, Dr. W. Carl Rufus, of Ann Arbor, Mrs. Fred Kerridge of Maybee, Ont., Mrs. Pat Quinn and Mrs. Ralph Tong of Pontiac, Lowell Chambers of Colorado and Judson and Oliver Chambers of Caro, nineteen grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren, three brothers, Cary Van Wagoner of Millington, Fred Van Wagoner of Oxford, William Van Wagoner of Pontiac and a sister, Mrs. Fannie Dernberger of Detroit.
Funeral services were held at the Collon Funeral Home by Rev. DN Earle and old friend and at the Kingston Methodist Church, Rev. Jones officiating, Sunday. Burial was made in the family lot in Kingston.

Van Wagoner of Pontiac, Mrs. Eugene Moshier, Mrs. Rene Van Wagoner of Oxford, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Stewart of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Eber Stewart of Kingston.
