Frank J. Piontek, 79, of Kalkaska and formerly of Robinson Township passed away on Wed, Aug 29, 2001, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mr. Piontek was born Oct 4, 1921, to Mike and Veronica Piontek and lived in Robinson Township until 1995. He retired from Bastian Blessing, where he was a sheetmetal worker, and was active in Union Local 430 for 25 years. He was also an active farmer for a number of years and served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Massachusetts in the Pacific during WWII.
In 1954 he married Maude Dobb of Muskegon and they had two children, William and Barbara (Jim) Crandall, all of whom survive him. In addition he has two granddaughters, Sarah (Ritsema) Riplow and Brandy Bray, two step grandsons, Clinton and Curtis Crandall and two great granddaughters, Lindsey and Brittany Riplow. Also surviving are his sister Helen Szymas, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
At Frank's request his body was cremated and no memorial service will be held. Memorials can be given to Hospice of Kalkaska or Grand Haven.
