Francis William Moorman was born April 27, 1905 in Grant Co., Indiana; son of Fred and Elizabeth Fleming Moorman. He lived in and around Upland, Indiana until 1929 when he moved to the McNatt community where he spent the rest of his life. On October 29 1927, he was united in marriage to True Murray. To this union were born five children. Death entered the home on August 13, 1941, and took the mother of these five children. On April 11, 1942, he was united in marriage to Lela May Leonard, and to this union was born one child. In 1941 he started his Christian life and united with the McNatt Methodist Church in which he worked tirelessly throughout the remainder of his life. He was the organizer and teacher of the Young Married People’s Class to which his influence meant much. He was a member and former President of the Jackson Township Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the Men’s Christian Brotherhood and Conservation Club. Those left to mourn his passing are: His parents; six children; Mrs. Oma Zent of Warren, R.R. 2, Edward Lee, Etta Leona, Phyllis Eileen, Freda Ann, and Margaret Ellen; Seven brothers and sisters; Oscar of Upland, Lora of Hartford City, Mrs. Velma Cochran of Van Buren, Mrs. Ruth Rumple of Van Buren, Frederick of Hartford City, Mrs. Doris Hamilton of Clarksville, Ohio, and Robert of Hartford City; one grandchild, Gary Lee Zent of Warren; and many other relatives and a host of friends, who will miss him beyond words to express. He was a kind and loving husband; a constant friend and guide to each one of his children; a conscientious father; and, in the words of Lela, his wife, a wonderful companion. His life was lived for the Sunday School Class which he taught. The family, church, and all his multitude of friends, realize that their loss will definitely be heaven’s gain. His last words, when reminded of God’s nearness to him, were, “Amen, I know He is.”
