Frances LaNetta (Ludlow) Rowston, of Dryden, MI, known as LaNetta Rowston, was a loving, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She died peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 93, on Fri, Sept 20, 2013. LaNetta had been living in Dryden with her daughter, Elizabeth.

Frances LaNetta Ludlow was born on Jul 5, 1920 to William Ludlow and Harriet Ludlow, in Detroit, MI. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Pontiac. She graduated from Pontiac Central High School in June of 1938. On Sept 7, 1942 she wed the love of her life, Phillip E. Rowston. They were married until Phillip’s death in Apr of 2003.

LaNetta worked for the Community National Bank in Pontiac before her marriage and again when Phillip was in law school. She later earned her real estate license and worked for Greater Bloomfield Real Estate. In her 70s, LaNetta worked in the accounting department, for a Rochester Hills law firm. She was a talented artist. She enjoyed painting, sewing, knitting, quilting, weaving, gardening, and decorating her homes. She furthered her art education at Cranbrook Academy.

LaNetta was a wonderful cook, entertaining frequently with her husband, Phillip. She ahd a great sense of humor and a ready smile. She was the 1st president of the Lawyers Wives of Michigan. She was also a member of The Women’s Village Club of Bloomfield Hills, for 37 years. LaNetta was a lifelong Jehovah’s Witness.

She is survived by her daughters, LaNetta Catherine (Rowston) Colando Riley of Haslett and Elizabeth (Rowston) Cischke Miller of Dryden; three grandsons Christian (Julie) Colando of Seattle, WA, Keven (Maia) Cheli-Colando of Arcata, CA and David (Cynthia) Miller of Oakland, CA; four great-grandchildren Anna and Finn Colando, and Ciara and Bryn Cheli-Colando.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Phillip E. Rowston; her parents William Ludlow and Harriett (Smith) Ludlow; and two brothers, Willard (Maude) Ludlow and William (Thelma) Ludlow.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, Lake Orion.
