Franasco "Frankie" Garza Guillen, Sr., 69, of Kalkaska, passed peacefully at home on Sun, Dec 19, 2010 with his loving family by his side. He was born on Oct 11, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas the son of the late Franasco and Luz (Garza) Guillen.
Frankie was a golden glove boxer in his youth along with his brothers. It was with great pride he remembered once being the opening fight for Cassius Clay (Mohammad Ali).
Frankie moved to Manistee with his family and worked at the drop forge until he was drafted at 19.
He was a veteran serving our country with two tours to Vietnam and was discharged with a rank of Sargeant. Frankie moved to Kalkaska in 1975 and retired from Michigan's Department of Transportation in 2003.
Frankie is survived by his best friend, Dolores; his children, David of Fife Lake, Keven (Marcella Russell) of Virginia Beach, VA, Nerene (Jesse Garchow) of Kingsley, and Franasco Jr. "Frank" of "Bo" of Kalkaska; his four grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Raven, and Anna; and his siblings, Alberto, Ricardo, Arnaldo, Juanita, Javier, and Angie.
Frankie was proceeded in death by his siblings, Carlos, Israel, and Ruben.
He was always loved and will be dearly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held honoring Frankie on Thu, Dec 23, 2010 at 3 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
