Fay W. Wheeler, 74, of Fife Lake, died Mon, Jan 6, 1997, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mr. Wheeler spent his early years in Fife Lake before moving to Mt. Pleasant where he worked as a plumber and pipefitter. Following his retirement, he returned to Fife Lake.
He served in the U. S. Air Force during WWII and was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and U.A. Local 85 Plumbers and Pipefitters of Saginaw. He enjoyed playing pool and cards.
Mr. Wheeler was born in Kalkaska County on Jun 3, 1922, to Albert and Eva (Cunningham) Wheeler. He was married to Rita Beagles who died in 1952. He then married Betty Warren who preceded him in death in 1977. On May 21, 1983, he married Kittie Farr who died on Jul 6, 1996.
Surviving are daughters, Janet Malley, Sherry Burke, and Sandy Schutt all of Mt. Pleasant, Susan Buenneke of TX, and Jean Bidwell of Coldwater; brothers Dale and Kenneth, both of Fife Lake; sisters Nancy Hulburt of Fife Lake and Lorene Kuzma of Grand Rapids; 10 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Brothers Jay and Jerry and sisters Mildred and Thelma preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Jan 9 at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul Karges officiated. Burial was in Clark Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
