F. Monty Lyon, 66, of Washington, PA, died Thu, Jul 9, 2009, in his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan 29, 1943, in Pontiac, MI, a son of Marjorie W Collings Lyon, of Mancelona, and the late Albert Earl Lyon.
Lyon graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1966, with a Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgical engineering, followed by a Master of Science degree in Metallurgical engineering in 1968.
In 2009, he retired from FLSmidth Inc USA in Bethlehem, PA, where he was a senior project engineer in the crushing division.
He started his professional career working in the research department of Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem. This was followed by working in the Bethlehem Mines in Charleston, WV.
During his career, he also worked for Republic Steel in Uniontown, PA, Lykes Resources in Peters Township, PA and the Advanced Fuels Technologies unit of BP America in Cleveland. On Jan 30, 1965, he married Carol Marie Hart, who survives, of State College, PA.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are two sons, Richard D Lyon of State College, PA and Michael J Lyon of Washington, PA; four sisters, Nola Hayes (Larry - deceased) of Rapid City and Loetta Hamp (Lynn), Nan Hershberger (Mitch) and Lynn Anger (Al - deceased) all of Mancelona. Lyon is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends were received Fri at the William G Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA.
A private burial will be held in Michigan. I
