Mrs. Eva R. Swathwood, 67, of 611 N. Superior St, widow of David S Swathwood, died at 7:40 pm Wednesday at a Battle Creek nursing home where she had been a patient since last October. She had been in failing health for a year.
Mrs. Swathwood was born Jan 16, 1900 in Grand Ledge, a daughter of Frank and Erma (Snyder) Shepard. On May 22, 1923, she was married to Mr. Swathwood in Grand Ledge. They lived in Grand Ledge and Chicago before coming to Albion in 1927. He died in 1960.
Mrs. Swathwood was employed for 17 years at McDougall and Young Coal Yard and later worked for John P Fox. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albion, the Albion Chapter No 124, Order of Eastern Star, a former member of the ELT Club and was active on the cancer drive.
Surviving are a son, Keith L of Albion; six grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Vernon (Hazel) Foster of Lansing.
