Etheleen Ann Oakes, 70, of Williamsburg passed away on Aug 25, 2005, at the Tendercare Nursing Home in Traverse City.
Born on Jun 21, 1935, in Petoskey, she was the daughter of Earl and Naomi (White) Bacon.
Etheleen married Lavere L Oaks on Jul 31, 1954, in Horton Bay. Together, they moved to Williamsburg in 1968 from Oxford.
Etheleen was a former teacher and manager of the Salvation Army Store in Royal Oak. She was also an assistant manager of Pine Grove Homes. Etheleen enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Etheleen is survived by her husband, Laverne, of 51 years; children, Joy (Dennis) Halverson of Charlevoix, Dale Oaks of Traverse City, Gayle (Robert) Obrecht of Coronado, CA, and Rick (Tammy) Oaks of Garland, TX; grandchildren, Erik, Jessica, Brandon (Kayla), Chelsee and Olivia; great grandchildren, Cameron and Cody; brothers, Robert (Carol) Bacon of Laramie, WY, and Roger Bacon of Peru, IN; and sister, Sara Seloheim of Federal Way, WA.
A memorial service celebrating Etheleen's life was held on Mon, Aug 29, at 11 am at the Williamsburg Methodist Church, with pastors William Chu, Julie Greyerbiehl, and Virgil Hershberger officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey.
