Mrs. Henry Purkiss, 59, resident of the Grand Traverse region her entire life died at the farm home of her daughter, Mrs. John Weber, early this morning following a long illness.
Esther Ayers was born March 27, 1890, the oldest daughter of Eliza and Caleb Ayers. She was married to William Taylor when she was sixteen years old. Mr. Taylor preceded her in death in 1929. To her union with Forest Hoy was born a son.
Mrs. Purkiss leaves to mourn their loss besides her husband, six sons and two daughters; Fred Taylor of Hollywood, CA; Wilbur of Kenly, NC; Francis, Harold, and Kenneth of this city; Mrs. John Weber of Hannah and Mrs. DeVitt Johnson of Muskegon; two sisters, Mrs. Ed Van Boven of Kalamazoo; and Mrs. Forest Elliott of this city; two brothers, George and Cloyd Ayers of this city besides many friends. The body was taken to the Hibbard chapel where services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock and burial will be made in the family lot in the Grawn cemetery.
