Esther M. Stacy, 91, a lifetime Lapeer area resident, died Thur, Sept 18, 2014. She was born Jul 13, 1923 in Elba Township to parents Ray and Edna (Potter) Bush. Esther married her Hadley High School Sweetheart, Francis J. Stacy on Jun 20, 1944 in Lapeer.
Mrs. Stacy was a devout Catholic and long-term member of Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. An intelligent, strong woman, she stood the strength of her convictions and her faith, and lived her life accordingly. She was proud to have participated in the education of area children as a substitute teacher for 14 years and a payroll clerk for 9 years, all for Lapeer Community Schools. Esther also worked in real estate sales. Her civic pride was demonstrated through her presidency of the Michigan Jaycee Auxiliary and chairmanship of the Lapeer City Planning Committee for several years and involvement for 25 years.
Mrs. Stacy is survived by her daughters: Kaye L (Lewis) Hunt of Spring Lake, Anne L. (Lloyd) Martinson of Gilbert, AZ, grandchildren; Niki Rich, Todd Martinson, Jason Hunt, Stacy Hunt Kelly, Katie Hunt, great-grandchildren: Brittany Rich, Libby, Mallory, Sam, Sadie, and Sasha Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 ½ years: Francis, daughter: Joan L. Stacy, brother: Harold Bush and her parents.
Visitation will be 1-6 pm. Sun at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer, with a scripture service at 5pm. Esther’s funeral mass will be 11am Mon, Sept 22, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Church, officiated by Father Doc Ortman. Burial will be in Mt. Loretto Cemetery, Lapeer.
