Ernest Nold, 72, of Kalkaska and Midland, died Thu, Jan 14, 1999, at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center.
He was born Jan 21, 1926, in Homestead, MT, to the late Martin and Agnes (Swallow) Nold and served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married the former Dorothy Haggitt Jul 16, 1945, in Midland.
Mr. Nold was employed by the Dow Corning Corporation as a painter for 40 years, retiring in 1985. He and his wife moved to Kalkaska after their retirement. he was a member of th eSt. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kalkaska, St. John's Lutheran Church in Midland, and the American Legion. His hobbies included repairing antique clocks, fishing and the outdoors.
Surviving in addition to wife Dorothy are children Karl (Diane) Nold and Paula (Todd) Carr, both of Midland; grandchildren Bryan (Beth) Carr of Roseville, Eric (Roxanne) Carr of Alexandria, VA, Michelle (Thomas) Dishaw and Stacy, Kate, and Paul Nold all of Midland; and sisters Wilma (Jerry) North and Frances (Doug) Oliver, both of Midland.
Mr. Nold was predeceased by son Raymond Paul Nold and granddaughter Rebecca Ann Nold.
Funeral services took place Jan 18 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Midland; Rev. John C. Pohanka of St. John's Lutheran Church and Rev. Ted Turanski of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiated. Burial followed at Midland City Cemetery.
