Miss Emma V. Lobbestael, 76, a resident of Chesterfield Township, died Wed, Jan 6, 1993 at Mt. Clemens General Hospital.
She was born May 2, 1916 in Detroit.
Miss Lobbestael was employed by L'Anse Creuse School system since 1942, first in the custodial department, later as a cook and retired from the school system in 1978 as Supervisor of Food Services. The Emma V. Lobbestael School on Prentiss was named after her in 1972. The school opened in 1973. Her hobbies included crocheting and farming. As a youth she drove both a tractor and three horse team. Her skills were called on when in 1976 she demonstrated plowing with a team of horses when Lobbestael School planted an acre of buckwheat as a project commemorating American's Bicentennial. She was a very active member of St. Louis Catholic Church.
She is survived by a brother, Felix M Lobbestael of Mancelona; four nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Alphonse Lobbestael.
Funeral services were held Sat, Jan 9, in St Louis Catholic Church, Mt Clemens. Rev. Father Pasquale LoGrasso, officiated. The Rosary was said on Sat. Burial was in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Clinton Township.
The family suggests memorials to Mt. Clemens General Hospital Foundation Nephrology Dept.
