Mrs. Emma Clapsaddle, 94, Peck, died Sun night in the Marlette Community Hospital of burns suffered in a fire at her home Sun.
Sanilac County Deputy Sheriffs said Mrs. Clapsaddle was burned when a gas cook stove in her trailer home apparently ignited her clothes while she was preparing a meal. The incident occurred shortly after 1pm.
She was born November 1, 1877, in Sparta County, WI. She came to Michigan at the age of five with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Snell. She has been a resident of Flynn Township ever since.
Mrs. Clapsaddle married Ernest Clapsaddle August 23, 1897, in Sandusky. He preceded her in death in 1949.
She is survived by two sons, Vern, Peck, and Victor, Brown City; a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Stone, Crystal, 11 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Two other sons also preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 1:30pm Wed at the Omard United Methodist Church. Rev. Allen Lewis, church pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Omard Cemetery.
