Emery Z. Smith, 69, of R.1. Fife Lake (Walton Junction), passed away Wed at Kalkaska Health Center after a six month illness. Surviving are his wife, Gladys; a daughter, Mrs. William (Jeanette) Haskin of Fife Lake; four sons, Neil and Mark of Kingsley, Curt of Fife Lake and David of Lansing; four sisters, Mrs. Harriet Kimball Mrs. Basil (Pearl) Veriner, and Mrs. Dorothy Dontje, all of Pontiac, and Mrs. Keith (Jan) Loper of Manton; three brothers, George Edward of Walton Junction, Ray and Robert of Pontiac; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Vivian, and six sisters.
Mrs. Smith was born May 1, 1903 at Walton Junction to Nora and Emery J. Smith and was married to Gladys Williams September 17, 1932 at Walton Junction. He had been employed by Johnson-Green Construction Co. of Saginaw until 1943 and by Chris Craft of Cadillac until 1968.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sat, from the Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley, with Rev. Douglas Lightly officiating. Interment will be in Walton Junction Cemetery.
