Thank your for your service

Eman Hogerheide, Jr. 86, of South Boardman, passed away peacefully on Wed, May 14, 2008, at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. He was born on Jul 15, 1921, in South Boardman, the son of the late Eman and Edna (Young) Hogerheide, Sr.

Eman was a veteran serving his country during WWII in the US Army. A very decorated soldier earning several medals and ribbons including the Purple Heart, Eman was as an honorary pall bearer for General Patton at his funeral. He carried his love of country throughout his life.

Eman was proud to tell how he started Kal-Con with just an old dump truck and a lot of hard work. The business grew and many people were employed from around the area with benefits including 401K, health insurance, and advancement within the company. When Eman decided to retire he sold KalCon and Grand View Golf Club which he was half owner in.

Eman enjoyed working outside in the orchard, in his vegetable garden, and flower gardens. He was always sharing produce, his time, and helping someone in need. His wisdom and work ethic is something that is not found very often. Eman was the Citizen of the Year in 1982. Those who knew him know how sensitive, kind, and caring a man he was. Eman was a very educated and self taught individual who was a huge supporter of Kalkaska.

Eman is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Loretta (Don) Hubble of NC, Karen (Jim) Bajgrowicz of CA; step children, Linda (Rex) Lambertson of Houghton Lake, Deborah (Carlee Robbins) Bussa of Prudenville, Nancy (Paul) McCullough of NC, and Gerald (Lindsay) DeRousse of Cedar; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and his brothers, Martin (Evelyn) Hogerheide, and Merwin (Blanche) Hogerheide all of South Boardman.

Eman was preceded in death by his first wife, June in 1984; and his brother, Carl.
