Elton Leroy Burgess, of Brown City, was born Oct 19, 1924 and passed away Sep 20, 2007.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Virginia; five children, Karen and Mike Cleary of Klawock, AK, Duane and Janice Burgess of Caro, MI, Paul Burgess of Brown City, Alan and Vicki /Burgess of Brown City, and Marilyn Burgess and Craig Forgaard of Wrangell Gustavas, AK; eight grandchildren, Julie, Lori, Brian, Paul Jr, Jacqueline, Jeremy, Michelle, and Eric; one great grandchild, Arionna; and stepgrandchildren, Stephanie and Destiny. Also surviving him are his sisters, Jean (Shephard) Johnson, Betty St. Germain, Wilma and James O’Brien, Helen Fausch, and Shirley Machiela.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Delia (Clark) Burgess; his father and stepmother, Thomas and Mildred Burgess; infant twin daughters; and his brothers, Irvin, Lawrence, and Donald Burgess.
Elton graduated from Brown City High School, and attended Michigan State University. He honorably served in the U.S. Army, as an M.P. and was stationed in Texas. He tested milk, was an artificial inseminator for Michigan Animal Breeders Coop, and was the manager of the
