Elton Hendershot, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska, passed away Tue, Nov 17, 2009, in Grand Rapids.
He was born Sep 13, 1942, in Cheboygan, the son of Louis and Eva (Guetzka) Hendershot.
Elton married Norma Ruby on Jan 27, 1962, in Kalkaska. He retired from Wayne Wire in 2001 - after working for 30 years.
Elton was a great hunter and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and the "great outdoors." He loved his family dearly, and they enjoyed working with Dad cutting firewood.
Elton is survived by his wife, Norma, of 47 years; his children, Lisa (Dave Nieman) Hendershot of Bellville, Lorie (Richard) Havey of Northwood, OH, Amy (Ken Belanger) Hendershot of Kalkaska, Tammy Dodge of Kalkaska, and David Hendershot of Marion; his mother Eva Hendershot of Kalkaska; his grandchildren, Christina and April Harvey of Northwood, Samantha Dodge of Kalkaska, and Hailey and Tanner Hendershot of Marion.
Preceding Elton in death were his father and sisters, Lucy Wagonschutz and Myrna Russell.
Visitation was held Fri, Nov 20 from 4 until 7 pm, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. The funeral service was on Sat at 1 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Kuiper from the Evergeen Bible Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
