Elton D LaBean, 71, died at his home in Fife Lake Sep 7, 2000, of acute myloid leukemia.
He was born in River Rouge on Mar 1, 1929. He moved to Dearborn Heights where he had a Detroit Times newspaper route of 80 customers.
Elton also worked at the shipyard in River Rouge and helped build the Edmund Fitgerald.
He was a millwright and retired from the Ford transmission plant in Livonia. He oved playing his guitar and harmonica, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by wife of 23 years, Joyce; and four children by his first marriage, Marie and Bob Petrovich of Hamburg, MI, Jeanne and Joe Wojik of South Lyon, Raymond and Cheri of Plantation, FL, and Denise of Madison Heights; as well as eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Phoebe Arquette, brother Lavern, and sisters Hazel LaFreniere and Norma Collins.
Arrangements were handled by Girrbarch-Krasum Funeral Home of River Rouge, and burial was at the Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
