Stacy, Elsie Harriet

In Memory of
Elsie Harriet (Preiser) Stacy

BIRTH: 13 Jun 1923 Denver, Denver, Colorado

DEATH: 26 Sep 2014

Elsie Stacy passed away on September 26, 2014 at the age of 91. She was born on June 13, 1923 in Denver, Colorado to Fred and Grace Preiser. They eventually moved to Seattle, Washington where Elsie graduated from high school and met her future husband Charles Stacy who was stationed at Ft. Lewis. They were married on February 24, 1943 in Ft Washington, Maryland following Chuck’s graduation from OCS. Following the war Chuck went to work for Southern Pacific RR. They lived in Seattle, Portland, Salem and settled in Eugene in 1958.

Elsie was a stay at home mom who raised seven children, Bob (Pat), Eileen (Joe) Podhasky, Rick (Candi), Joe, Janet (Ron) Henley, John (Julie), and Jim (Polly). Family to her was everything. When her own children started to have families of their own she became a wonderful grandmother and day care provider and loved every minute of it. When the great grandkids came along that was even better. While her family really was everything to her, so was her faith. Jesus, Mary and the Saints sustained her through so many trials in her life, her devotion was very great, although very quiet.

She loved to watch sports, especially football and baseball and enjoyed going to her granddaughter’s softball and soccer games. She loved her Oregon Ducks and wouldn’t miss a game on TV. She was quite proud of her children and all her grandchildren. She was preceded in death in 2003 by her husband of 60 years, Chuck, and her brother Bert (Joy). She is survived by her sister, Lorraine, all seven of her children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1201 Satre Street, Eugene at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 3. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
