Elsie L.G. Merrill, 72, of Kalkaska, died Tue, Jun 27, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Elsie was born in Wilson on Jan 16, 1928, the daughter of the late John and Anna Miller Plansky.
She moved to Kalkaska from Springport in 1977. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, president of the Traverse Bay Zone of the Lutheran Womens Missionary Legue, and was very active in the Kalkaska community. She enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts.
Surviving are sons Peter (Emma) Porath of Kalkaska, Lawrence (Ruth) Porath Jr of Phoenix, AZ, and Frank (Carol) Porath of Hanover; daughter Karen (Hobert) Kirk of Mancelona; brother George (Bud) Plansky of WI; sisters Josephine Hartwig of Escanaba, Irene Schiesser of Wilson, and Pearl (Pat) Mathieson of WI; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Memorial services were Jun 30 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska; Rev Ted Turanski officiated. Inurnment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
