Eloise Mae “Elle” (nee: Stampfler) Dargin, 66, passed away at St Mary’s Medical Center on Mon, Aug 27, 2001.
She was born in Michigan on Jul 12, 1935, to Glenn and Gladys (nee: Hower) Stampfler and had been a resident of Racine since the early 1960’s.
Elle retired from J.I. Case Corporation in 1995. She then worked for Xerox until 1997. Elle currently was employed part time at Menards. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and was the current President of the Mariner Condo Association.
Surviving are four daughters, Sharon (Randy) Schaeffer of Racine, Karen (David) Pederson of Whitehall, MI, Cindy (Ron) Eschmann of Bedford, PA, and Kathaleen (Tom) Hoover of Stevens Point; one son, John Dale Avis of Racine; 12 grandchildren, Michele and Brian Schaeffer, Tim and Lisa Pederson, Stephanie, Josh, and Jenny Eschmann, Holly and Thomas Hoover II, and Laura, John Jr, and Christina Avis; two great grandchildren, Justin and Jordan; one sister and brother in law, Wilma (LeRoy) Autenrieth of Greenville, IL; and first husband, John M Avis of Florida. Elle is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her second husband, James C Dargin.
Funeral services will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 2417 Drexel Ave, on Fri, Aug 31, 2001, at 10:30 am with Rev. Pam Marolla officiating. There will be a visitation at the Hanson Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5 to 8pm. Memorials to the American Heart Association have been suggested.
