Elmer L. Simkins, 88, of Kalkaska, died Wed, Apr 26, 1995, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. Simkins moved to Kalkaska from Manton in 1981. Prior to his retirement in 1972, he worked as a foreman at Detroit Brass and Malleable Company.
Mr. Simkins served with the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a member of the Kalkaska Senior Citizens and the Kitchen Band. He enjoyed bingo, shuffleboard, and cards.
Born in Detroit on Apr 6, 1907, he was the son of Charles and Mary Smith Simkins. On Jun 22, 1964, in Dearborn, he married Alice Barnes who preceded him in death on Apr 28, 1985.
Surviving are one son, Leonard Simkins of Kalkaska; one step son, Carl Barnes of Roseville; his loving companion, Edith Ball of Kalkaska; two grandchildren; and seven step grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Fri, Apr 28, at the Kalkaska Church of Christ. E. Dan Johnson officiated.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
