Elizabeth M. Lake, 59, a lifelong resident of Grand Traverse County, died Tuesday at her home in Whitewater Township.
Born on April 7, 1938, In Traverse City, she was the daughter of Edward A. and Thelma K. (Allen) Krohn. On Sept. 5, 1956, in Traverse City she married Therowin R. “Skip” Lake, who survives.
Elizabeth was employed by the US postal Service for 23 years as a rural carrier in the Williamsburg area. She was a 1956 graduate of Traverse City Senior High School. She attended Williamsburg United Methodist Church, was a member of the Salvation Army Church and belonged to the Rural Carriers Association. She enjoyed traveling etc…Elizabeth loved life, people and her grandchildren.
Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Kelley M. (Steven P) Wheelock of Williamsburg; one son, Brent R. (Cynthia J.) Lake of Williamsburg: one brother Edward “Pete” (Katie) Krohn of TC: three sisters, Kathleen “Tin” (James) Cosgrove of TC, Sally (Roy) Eley of Lake Ann and Mical “Mickey” (David) Dunlop of TC; three grandchildren Joshua T. and Ashley E. Wheelock and Benjamin R. Lake and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Friday at noon at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas L. Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
