Elizabeth A. (Ferrin) Starkey, 96, of Frankfort, died Mon, Oct 25, 2004, at The Maples.
She was born on Aug 24, 1908, in Lapeer County, the third of five children, to Albert and Mable (Palmer) Ferrin. Elizabeth married Glenn G. Starkey of Mt. Clemens on Sep 4, 1926. To this union four daughters, Barbara, Virginia, Mildred, and Laurel, were born.
She was a member of the Frankfort Wesleyan Church and served as adult Sunday School teacher and missionary president for many years. She was a cook at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1973.
Elizabeth is survived by daughters, Virginia (Dale) Cooper of Walkerville, Mildred (Ming) Hawkins of Lapeer, and Laurel “Lori” (Ken) Rose of North Branch; 15 grandchildren, Dennis (Kathy) Cooper, Keith (Deb) Cooper, Craig (Linda) Cooper, Dawn (Bill) Ross, Mark (Rosemary) Cooper, Gary (Judy) Cooper, Rachel (Jeff) Iteen, Peter Cooper, Donald (Deb) Hawkins, Yvonne (Ed) Kalbfleisch, James (Lynne) Hawkins, Ray (Lavonya) Hawkins, Susan (Jon) Kirback, Kathe (Bryan) Shaw, and Todd (Kerry) Rose; 42 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Joyce and George Kirback.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Barbara; granddaughter, Cherri Hawkins-Wilson; great granddaughter, Matthew Shaw; and son in law, James Hawkins.
Friends may visit today, Oct 28, 2004, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Benzonia Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Fri, Oct 29, 2004 at 11 am, at the Frankfort Family Faith Nazarene Church, with the Rev. Tom Shelder officiating. Interment will be in Benzonia Township Cemetery.
