Death called Mrs. Eliza Hodges Tue forenoon at about 11 o’clock, while engaged in helping Mrs. C.R. Bellinger with her household work at her home on Bridge Street. She had apparently been in good health, although a sufferer from indigestion for several years.
She was engaged in helping Mrs. Bellinger do a small washing, and was making some starch. Mrs. Bellinger, who had left the room for a moment, heard the crash of a falling dish, but paid little attention to it. Within five minutes she returned and found Mrs. Hodges lying on the floor. Help was called and within a few minutes Dr. Lewis arrived, but she was beyond help, death, caused by apoplexy apparently occurring before she struck the floor.
