Eileen M. Floreno, 65, of Kalkaska passed away Monday, May 5, 2003, in Kalkaska.
She was born Nov. 5. 1937, in Detroit, the daughter of Thomas and Elona (Hilaszk) Newkirk.
Eileen married Peter Floreno Sept. 28, 1953, in Detroit. Eileen and Peter lived in Kalkaska since 1993 after moving from Highland.
Eileen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mancelona and the Ladies Quilting Club of Blue Lake Township.
Eileen is survived by her husband, Peter, of 49 years; children Marie E. Floreno of Milford, Joseph Mark (Cathy) Floreno of Mancelona, Debra Jean (Kevin) O'Brien of Hurst, Texas, Thomas J. (Jana L.) Floreno of Mancelona, Magdalena C. (David A. Filan) Kivamaki of Mancelona, Rudolph James (Jacqueline) Floreno of Mancelona, Regina Anne (Garry) Grim of Mancelona, Frederick John (Kerri Marie) Floreno of Highland and Lynn Newkirk of Tennessee; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Mark (Beverly) Newkirk of Alden and Thomas (Judy) Newkirk of Mancelona; and dear friend Timothy M. Bennett of Mancelona.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Peter Anthony Floreno Jr., on Oct. 26, 1967.
A service was held on Thursday, May 8. The Mass of Christian Burial was on May 9, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Kalkaska.
Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
Memorial contributions may be given on behalf of Eileen Floreno to the Leukemia Foundation.
