Edward Leroy Hartzell, 89, passed away on Mon, Nov 7, 2011 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center-LTC. He was born on Jan 27, 1922 in Constantine to the late Willard Dewey and Retha Opal (Wright) Hartzell.
Ed attended school in Chappel Hill, Three rivers, and Walton Junction up to the 7th grade and then went to work cutting logs to help his father support the family. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps before joining the Army where he served as a corporal.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, Ed married Delores Gaines on Jul 26, 1946. Together they raised five wonderful children. ed drove the city bus in Traverse City for a while and then the family moved south to Elhart, IN where he worked driving truck for Ribblets. They moved to Constantine for a while and then settled in Buckley. While living in Buckley, Ed worked in a factory in Traverse Cit. After retiring, he nursed Delores for nine years until she passed away on Dec 2, 1997.
Ed married Rosalie Sieting on Jul 2, 1999. He sold his home in Buckley and moved to Kalkaska where he and Rosalie made their home. Ed loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie; his dear children, Irene Hartzell, Marlene (Larry) Price, Darlene Hartzell, Charlene Hatton, and Edward Amos Hartzell; ten grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ed will be held on Fri, Nov 11, 2011 at 11 am at Bear Lake Christian Church with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service. Pastor Scott Hoffer will be officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Grawn.
