Edna H. Shoner, 82, of Ypsilanti Township. passed away Feb. 7. 2003.
She was born July 3, 1920, in Traverse City, the daughter of Dr. Henning V. and Jennie (Burnett) Hendricks.
Mrs. Shoner taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Kalkaska, worked in the Willow Run Bomber Plant and was an executive secretary for many years. She became a farmer with her husband Ernest Shoner, and also became an enrolled agent in tax preparation.
She was a member of Stony Creek United Methodist Church, where she served on several committees. She also served on the Union-Udell Cemetery Board, the Swedish Club and the Ann Arbor Friendship Club. She was an avid gardener, quilter and Scrabble player.
Survivors include children Joan (Alan Francis) Shoner of Stockbridge, Sarah (Steve) Albert of Hartland, Nicholas Shoner of Saline, Daniel (Karen) Shoner of Saline and Julie (Matthew) Corbitt of Hartland; stepson Jack Sofia of Ypsilanti; grandchildren Jeff, Matthew, Jenna, Nicholas, Kristin, Oswell, Jack, Daniel and Jennifer; brothers Dr. Charles Hendricks, Burton (Dawn) Hendricks and Dwight (Elizabeth Allyn) Hendricks: sister Phyllis Gosling: and several nieces and nephews,
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest and grandchildren Michael and Rachel.
Her funeral service was held Feb. 11. 2003, at Stony Creek United Methodist Church, 8635 Stony Creek, Ypsilanti. The Rev. Peter Harris officiated. Contributions may be made to the church or the Hendricks House Museum. Envelopes are available at the funeral home."
