Edmund S. Matus, 73, of 14 South Rd, Enfield, died Sat (Nov 23), in Johnson Memorial Hospital. Born in South Deerfield, MA, he lived in Enfield for many years. He was a 1935 graduate of Deerfield High School, and a 1937 graduate of the former Northampton Commercial College. he worked for over 20 years with Old Fox, Company in Hazardville, for which he received many citations for Best Salesman of the Year for five years and was semi-retired. He was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the Medical Administration Corp. He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church. He leaves his wife, Dorothy M. (Coppens) Matus; two sons, James E. Matus of New York City, Edward W. Matus of Springfield, a brother, Walter J Matus of South Deerfield, MA; a sister, Sue M. Rurak of Old Deerfield, MA; his grandson and wife, Samuel A. and Janice (Thorston) Matus of Springfield; a nephews, Richard Barber of West Springfield; a niece, Susan Sigda of Greenfield. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Helen Barber. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 am, from the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernard's Church at 10 am.
