Edith M. Smith, 79, of Fife Lake, died Sun evening at her home, following a short illness.
Mrs. Smith grew up in Sears, and Bendon, MI. She moved to Walton Junction, near Fife Lake in 1931.
Employed by the Manton industries for 10 years, she had also worked 10 years for the Senior Companion Program.
Born August 14, 1916, in Barryton, MI, she was the daughter of Andrew and Ethel (Parker) Wheeler. On September 15, 1933 in Walton Junction, she married George Edward Smith, who preceded her in death on September 1, 1984.
Surviving are two sons, Bernard Jack and Roger Smith, both of Fife Lake; a daughter, Bonnie (Percy) Barnes of Fife Lake; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Smith of Fife Lake; and two half sisters, Elsie Gauld and Evelyn Harper both of Fife Lake.
Also preceding her in death were a half brother, Harold Harper; and an infant sister, Pearl Mae.
Funeral services will be at 3pm Wed at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton, with the Rev. Bruce VanDussen officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm today at the funeral home.
